Lots to learn...

Take a look around. Is there anything in your house you can take ten to teach your kids about? When I did this my eyes landed on the pink azalea flower plant my husband bought me a couple weeks ago. What can I tell my kids about this plant? A lot!

We talked about the leaves (color, texture, size).  We talked about the dirt the plant was living in.

We touched the plant and learned to NOT pull the flowers off. (2 year old boys are not very careful) We also learned how to water the plant.

And guess what? They thought it was SO cool. Teach them something while they still think it's cool!
Take ten!

  1. I always had a mom who did that with us. I learned all kinds of things before I was even old enough to go to school. It's a bond with my mom that I treasure to this day. Plants have so much more meaning to me than to most people I know, and I'm sure it's because of my mom's influence. Now, about that azalea...if memory serves me correctly, it's on the naughty list for being toxic. To what degree I know not. Just letting you know! The pics are so cute!

  2. Haha, somebody else mentioned azalea toxicity. They're not super dangerous, just if they're ingested - but they're supposed to taste bad and burn the mouth so you don't WANT to eat any more! ;) I'd just make sure to wash hands after handling them...

... and don't let your kids handle foxglove or daffodils, ever, until they're old enough to not put their hands in eyes, noses, mouths, etc until they've washed REALLY well. Those ones are much more toxic.
